STAMP is the STAndards-Based Measure of Proficiency for language learning, and its results closely align with those of the most widely recognized national standards, those of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. The STAMP uses a 9-point scale that corresponds to ACTFL's Novice - Intermediate - Advanced- Superior ranking.
This Spring more than 2000 UO students working in 8 different languages will be taking AVANT Assessment's STAMP tests in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The results of this test will help both students and teachers understand more about their progress through the first two years of language study and inform curriculum decisions going forward. The test begins April 9 and continues throughout the quarter.
More information is available on this STAMP overview page. The Yamada Language Center will be administering the tests. Don't hesitate to contact us with questions.
