Swahili @ UO
Considering how long it takes to build and sustain a language program, the Swahili language program at UO is still relatively young. Now in its 13th year, it's led by the dynamic and determined Professor Mokaya Bosire, who literally teaches all the students and all the classes, from first year through third.
Coming from a rich language background in Kenya, Mokaya deeply appreciates the value and gift of multilingualism. Listen to him describe (with great humiility) the many roles he plays as the sole instructor of Swahili on campus: cultural advocate, counselor, study abroad leader, sociolinguist and much more.
