UO's 40th Annual

FLIS presenters are UO faculty and students from more than 40 different countries, who represent UO's outstanding foreign language, linguistics, and international and native studies programs. Accompanying them are presentations from international students in the UO's cultural outreach program, ICSP. Join us on Friday, May 4.

This Year

our keynote speaker is Eric Benjaminson, former U.S. Ambassador to Gabon, and a lifelong language learner (he's learning his fifth language, Russian, now). From Brownsville, OR, Benjaminson graduated from the UO in 1981 and served in the Foreign Service for 32 years.

Of course there will be special presentations and workshops by faculty and students from the 23  languages offered at the UO, from Arabic to Vietnamese.

And, as always, we have special guest performers in large venues, like music from the multi-talented local folklore group Sol de los Andes and Friends and a variety of international dancing sessions!
