To install fonts under Windows 3.1 or 3.11 follow this procedure:
  1. Download the font that you want to install to some temporary directory.
  2. Unzip the file that you downloaded. If you don't know how to unzip a file see the What's this Zip thing? listing in our FAQ.
  3. Go to the "Program Manager" and double-click on the icon "Main". Once in "Main", double-click on the icon "Control Panels".
  4. Double-click on the icon "Fonts".
  5. Mack sure the check-box "Enable True-Type Fonts" is checked.
  6. Click the button "Add".
  7. Go through the file directory listing until you find the directory of the file that you unzipped. There will be a listing of available fonts to add in the lower window. You can choose one of these by clicking on it or you can use the "Select All" button. Then click on the button "Add".
  8. Make sure the "Copy Fonts to Windows Directory" check-box is checked. This will copy the fonts into your Windows directory.
  9. Click the "OK" button.
  10. The font has been added and should be available to all of the programs.
Note for Microsoft Word for Windows: Word stores font information in its own separate files. So after you add new fonts, you need to tell Word that it can use them. To do this, select "Printer Setup" in Word's "File" menu. Then click on the "Setup" button and click on the each "Ok" button presented to you. This will take you back to your document and the newly installed fonts will be available to Word. Do this after each time you install new fonts.
