  • Software and Network Solutions (formerly Sony Educational). A hardware and software solution for running a digital language lab. Windows only. (U. Washington)
  • eLanglab: Software-based solution (Java) which works best in the lab (Reed College).

National Foreign Language Resource Center Solutions (Assessment)

  • CASLS/LLS: Placement and standards-based assessments currently for foreign language only. "ClassPak" tool allows teachers to author own speech-based content. Developing statewide ESL test for Minnesota. (UO)
  • CARLA: Virtual Assessment Resources. Early developer of online assessments. (U.Minnesota)
  • LARCStar Speech-based tool for delivering online assessments. Free download. Windows only. (San Diego State U.)
  • Oral Testing Software: Quite dated now, but it was the first product to deliver and manage spoken language tests. (Brigham Young U.)

Build Your Own Solutions (basis of YLC's apps)

  • Flash Communications Server: Works with Macromedia's Flash MX for delivering and collecting streaming audio and video.
