
There is a scanner available to use in the PAC 120 computer lab as well as the PAC 113 computer lab available for academic use.
Tips and Tutorials

Scan as PDF
---
1) Click on the ScanGear icon in the dock

2) Click on the file format (Usually PDF)

3) After configuring the Scan Settings, enter the file name then click Scan

***The scanning may take up to 2 minutes if the scanner was in sleep mode (usually 20~30 seconds)

5) If you want to Scan more pages, click on Next. If not, click on Finish

6) Click on Forward if you're pleased with scanned document (If you scanned more than two pages, it will be combined into one pdf file)

7) With default setting, scanned file will be in folder named "20xx-month-date" on Desktop

1) Click on the ScanGear icon in the dock
2) Choose Scan-1 or Scan-2 as a scan format

3) Change the Save Type as: JPEG/Exif and Scan

OCR Scanning

What's OCR?
Scanner in PAC113 has function of Optical Character Recognition, which allows you to translate printed articles and handwritten documents into editable and searchable data. By using OCR recognition, you can do things like translating PDFs and handwritten notes into ordinary word document.
Examples: These two documents are both scanned using OCR. You can copy the selected field and paste it on the texteditor in order to convert it to the common .doc format


How to scan in OCR format.
1) Click on the ScanGear icon in the dock
2) Choose OCR as a scan format

3) Set External Program as Adobe Acrobat Professional (Only available at 113projector and 120station25) and Scan

4) Click on Document in the toolbar and select OCR Text Recognition then click on Recognize Text Using OCR.

5) Set it to Primary OCR Language: English (US) then select OK
