ANVILL

ANVILL (A National Virtual Language Lab) is designed to provide language students (at all levels) with state-of-the-art web-based speech technology, and language teachers with a way of managing and presenting multimedia tasks which facilitate meaningful foreign language practice.

Over the past 5 years we've tried to learn from ANVILL-using teachers: the wide range of materials and lessons they create, the different uses and strategies they employ for media-based materials, the tools they use the most, and, of course, their level of satisfaction with ANVILL.

For more than a year we've been working on a new version of the tools ANVILL Beta. It's mobile-friendly, much easier to use for course and lesson creation, and much more flexible for layouts and lesson sequencing. The speech tools are new, written in HTML 5, and have much better audio quality.

ANVILL Beta is open source software, which means that others will be able to improve upon it. It also takes advantage of LTI technology, which means that it'll work inside other course management systems, like Moodle or Blackboard.

If you're interested in being a beta tester, or you're just interested in getting more information about "ANVILL 2", please contact us: ylchelp@uoregon.edu.
