Q: Can I print in the lab?

 

A: Yes, but we require you to buy a printing pass from the Yamada front desk (PAC 121), $1.00 for 12 pages.

 


Q: Can I read or write email in Chinese/Japanese/Korean?

 

A: Yes. We have language kits for all three of these languages and more.

 


Q: Can I spell-check in Foreign Languages?

 

A: Yes. It is possible with Microsoft Word. You can spell-check in Spanish, French, German, Italian ... and many others.

 


Q: How can I spell-check a document that I typed on AppleWorks (or ClarisWorks)?

 

A: First, you have to open your document with AppleWorks, then copy your text and paste it in Microsoft Word. Here, you can spell-check. Finally, you can copy and paste your text back in AppleWorks.

 


Q: How can I spell-check a document that I typed on a PC computer?

 

A: Microsoft Word should be able to open your document and even save automatically in PC format.

 


Q: How can I learn how to type?

 

A: The lab computers are equipped with Mavis Beacon. This is a program with assist you in learning the correct typing postures, and typing speed.


Q: How can I record myself?

 

A: Every computer is connected with head phones equip with a microphone. On the tool bar on the desktop, open Sound Studio and speak into the microphone.
