The UO offers intensive courses (where you can complete a year's worth of coursework) in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.

  • Another FLIS has come and gone. Many thanks to the 150 UO faculty, staff and students whose presentations, performances, and services made the day so memorable. A big Quack Out to our nearly 2000 visitors--we hope to see you again next year! See a selection of photos from this year's event, or check out some video highlights on the University of Oregon's You Tube channel.
  • The WLA Ichishkin (Sahaptin) language program won first prize at the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation's Language
    Knowledge Bowl competition on May 6. Congratulations Xatxatma (ducks).
  • The WLA will be adding 1st year Swedish classes to its six other LCTL course offerings next Fall. See the schedule of classes for listings in Arabic, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Sahaptin, and Swahili.
  • ANVILL 2.0, YLC's suite of speech-based tools, is now available for use. High school and college foreign language educators interested in being part of our pilot study are encouraged to contact us for more information.
