Kirikou and the Sorceress Karaba

Come and discover the adventures of a little African boy KIRIKOU. In a little village somewhere in Africa, a boy named Kirikou is born. But he's not a normal boy, because he knows what he wants very well. Also he already can speak and walk. His mother tells him how an evil sorceress has dried up their spring and devoured all males of the village except of one. Hence little Kirikou decides, he will accompany the last warrior to the sorceress.

Chinese Calligraphy: the Fun of Writing

The presentation will briefly introduce the Chinese calligraphy: how it develops throughout the history and how it relates to our daily lives now. Participants can also have a chance to use the traditional writing tools--"four treasures" to create their own pieces of calligraphy work.

The Amazon Basin

A presentation on "El Amazonas". With the support of some slides and a short excerpt from a documentary, we will show some of the very interesting aspects this region offers. We will consider the Spanish-speaking countries of the area, such as Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, and their ecosystem, flora, fauna, tribes, ecological problems, natural resources. Finally, we will pose some questions about problems the students might know about while giving them some hints, like for example about deforestation.
