HarvardŐs Intensive Ottoman Summer School in Turkey, (sponsored by Koc University of Istanbul) focuses on the reading and translation of Ottoman texts, but also involves instruction in Modern Turkish (in which the student should already be somewhat proficient) and Modern Persian. http://www.summer.harvard.edu/2003/courses/31217.jsp

Pitzer College has semester and year-long programs in language and culture, located in Ankara. The Middle East Institute (MEI) works to promote understanding between people of different Middle Eastern countries and between the Middle East and America in part by publishing The Middle East Journal, teaching classes, and working with other like-minded organizations. http://www.mideasti.org/
