UO's 31st Annual Foreign Language and International Studies Day - Sold Out!

As of April 6th we have reached our capacity for this year and are unable to accept any more participants. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Foreign Language and International Studies Day is Oregon's largest event devoted to language and culture study!

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a keynote address by Linguistics Professor and Africa Specialist, Doris Payne.

Regular sessions begin promptly at 9:15 and end at 3:00. There will be more than 20 different presentations per hour, ranging from a bilingual play El último at 10 to Arabic, Chinese, and Thai lessons at 1:00. And much much more in between. Download a preliminary schedule (pdf).

As usual, FLIS represents the best of UO's commitment to international education. Presenters come from many parts of the university, bringing their expertise in language, culture, area studies, and the arts. Check out the presentations for more times, locations, and descriptions.

Students have many chances throughout the day to use their foreign language skills as well as acquire new ones. This year we have more than 110 sessions scheduled, encompassing dozens of languages and cultures.

For Teachers:
Registration forms for schools wishing to attend are available online (early deadline is April 3rd). Professional development can also be part of your day—several sessions on technology and language teaching are "for teachers" only.
