Satellite TV & VLL

What's Available. The Yamada Language Center receives satellite TV programming from more than thirty different countries in their original languages on SCOLA. These may be viewed on the UO campus-wide cable system (channel 15), in YLC classrooms, and in the Int'l Resource Center.

What's Online. Perhaps most importantly, selected broadcasts can also be viewed by the campus community on the Virtual Language Lab (password and high speed connection required). These broadcasts are kept for up to one week.

What's Recorded. We record SCOLA twenty-four hours a day, but we only put a small portion online. If you'd like to use this service in your teaching or research, please contact us about obtaining tapes or DVDs of weekly recordings. There is a small charge for this.

You can see the SCOLA schedule at scola.org. We receive SCOLA Channel 1 Monday-Friday and Channel 4 on weekends.

Other Programming—Campus Cable. Regular cable TV (more than 50 channels from Comcast), including Telemundo and Univision, are available on various workstations in Pacific 120.
