Welcome to the YLC's Virtual Language Lab

Getting Started
Just choose a language (left) to begin!

Passwords
For copyright reasons, much of the VLL is password protected. If you need a password, ask your instructor or stop by the Yamada Language Center front desk (121 Pacific Hall) and show your Student ID. Note that passwords are CASE SENSITIVE.

Record your voice!
A recording device now appears on each page of the VLL.

To use the recorder...
1. Attach a microphone to your computer if it doesn't already have one.
2. A dialog box may pop up when you load the page to listen to your lesson. Click "Allow" to enable to the recorder.
(See below * if you are really tired of this box popping up!)
3. To make sure your microphone is set correctly, click the mic settings button.
Choose your microphone from the list. You should be able to see the microphone level meter (green bars) react as you speak into the microphone.
4. Click "Record" to record your voice and "Play" to play back your recording. If you get the message "Recording failed...", try again! You may just need to speak louder.

* If you don't want to be prompted to "Allow" the VLL to access your recorder every time, here's what to do...
1. Click the mic settings button, then click the computer screen icon...
2. Check the box that says "Remember". That little box shouldn't bother you again!
