Spending time with the family is an integral part of life in Luxembourg. Eating together is very important and the mid-day Sunday dinner is a time when either the nuclear or extended family gathers for a leisurely meal. After Sunday dinner, particularly in rural areas, the family always goes for a walk. Depending on the preferences of those involved, the walk can be either a two to three hour hike through the woods or a more leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. It is a time when families replete with elders, baby carriages and dogs will linger and chat on the roadside with neighboring families also out for a stroll.
